International Projects

CET carries several international projects in its various areas of activities, such as joint ventures in development of sophisticated online interactive learning units in Science and Math, providing pedagogic consultation for building large scale teachers training systems, operation of long distance teachers training courses and more.

“Reading and Media Clubs” - a Joint Project of Stiftung Lesen and CET

The German reading organization, Stiftung Lesen, and CET have joined together to examine the extent to which leisure activities aimed at encouraging dialogue around text-rich resources (such as books, newspapers, games and movies) can assist in the development of reading and media literacy among students participating in “Reading and Media Clubs”, and even promote their social integration in the school. With funding from the German Ministry of Education, 10 reading clubs will be run in each country, during the 2009 and 2010 school years. A joint research will examine the value of the project to the participants (who come from lower to middle SES families, and include migrants or the children of migrants). CET and Stiftung Lesen hope to contribute to the dissemination of the Reading and Media Club model within the education systems of both countries.

Psookim.com - Your Bible on the Net - a Social Network for Young North American Jews

Psookim.com is an innovative platform designed to create a vibrant, contemporary Judaism. Psookim.com combines the search for meaning with creativity and social life; users can meet new people, view Bible inspired art and Tikun Olam projects and share their ideas. Psookim.com aims to strengthen Jewish identity, using the Internet and media-rich content in order to give the traditional biblical text a new, fresh and relevant interpretation that will appeal to a young audience. At the heart of the website stands the biblical text, enriched with traditional as well as contemporary commentaries, accompanied with users' original content and responses. IPSO - the Israeli-Palestinian Cooperation in Science Education Program

The Multilingual and Multicultural Website for Science Education and Peace Pilot Project is an Israeli-Palestinian-French effort aiming to gain experience in cooperative development, construction and operation of an expanding on-line multilingual resource for teachers, students and families. The project's concept, its design, development, and operation was made possible by grants received from the European Commission, the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, the Arthur Goldsmith Foundation, the Olivestone Trust, La Cité des Sciences et de I'industrie, Paris, and the Treilles Foundation. It was a co-operative development process, involving numerous institutional and individual contributors from the three nations, coordinated and managed by IPSO, Al-Quds University (AQU), and La Cité des Sciences et de I'industrie, Paris (CSI). Other participants include the French La Main à la Pâte (LAMAP), the Israeli Centre for Educational Technology (CET), The Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem (BSMJ), and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI).

Cooperation with Singapore’s Ministry of Education

CET awarded a SIIRD grant for a new initiative for the development of a games-based environment for mathematical problem solving, using 3D technologies. The initiative is an outcome of a series of meetings with a group of representatives of Singapore’s Ministry of Education, who visited CET to learn about how to develop high order thinking skills among students. The aim of this initiative is to develop a series of educational games, designed to promote high-level mathematical thinking skills for the solution of “real” problems.

Macedonia – Improving Education by Developing Teachers’ Training Systems

CET, together with MARMANET (Organization and Project Management), won the tender of the World Bank to implement a system of in-service training for teachers in Macedonia. CET is providing pedagogic consultation for the Macedonian Ministry of Education, and to the unit coordinating the project, while MARMANET is managing the administrative segment of the project. The project commenced in 2005 and is scheduled to end in 2009.

Leading Online Seminars in South America

CET conducted a 3 day online seminar on the subject of "Distance Learning in an Academic Setting" in cooperation with the University of El Sabana in Bogota, Colombia. Over 250 university instructors and other interested professionals attended the seminar from the faculties of engineering, nursing, biology, economics and social sciences. In light of the seminar's success, 3 follow up courses are already being planned.
